This oolong tea is a creation based on the natural version of the Jin Xuan cultivar. The popularity and price of the original tea created a draw for massification of “Milk Oolong”. Imitation and embellishment of the flavour profiles founds in the meticulously produced Jin Xuan oolongs was created by adding flavours to either a summer or fall produced Jin Xuan or a different cultivar altogether. The end result is a more accessible tea in quantity and price with strong aromas and flavours which are widely sought after in the western tea market. While original winter or spring Jin Xuan may have subtle aromas and complex flavours, flavoured milk oolongs are immediately recognized from the intense buttery smell from the leaf along with the milky flavour of the infusion. The flavour does last for 1-2 infusions but will fade over time as the flavour is stripped from the leaf. This certainly is a tea to try, especially with the understanding of the original tea history. Some customers may find this version of the tea more enjoyable than the original! There are no wrong answers when it comes to tea enjoyment. :)
