Downy Tip - Duyun (Du Yun Mao Jian)
Duyun Mao Jian has been produced since at least the early 20th century and given its current name by Mao Zedong in 1956. This tea is produced in Duyun, the capital of Qiannan Prefecture in Guizhou province. The word ‘Mao’ refers to the white down found on young tea leaves and ‘Jian’ is another word for the tip of the tea plant.
The tea has a beautiful contrast of silver buds and dark green curled leaves. The liquor is light yellow, slightly cloudy, lively and sweet. The infusion provides velvety medley of flavours - a nutty vegetality resembles raw filberts, while the delicate fruitiness of melon and elderflower lingers in the nose.
