Kenyan Silverback - Nandi
Kenyan Silverback - Nandi
Kenya has been producing tea for just over 100 years. The majority of tea is produced and sold under the Kenya Tea Development Association (KTDA), and most still is black and tea bag cut. The increase in demand for specialty tea has increased amazing teas being produced and sought after from Kenya. This tea is even more special being that it is a superb white silver tip tea.
Kenya, in particularly Nandi, has amazingly rich volcanic soil that produces some of the best tasting assamica varietal teas. This tea is grown in the highlands in the shadow of Mount Elgon.
The aroma of the dry leaf smells lightly like straw and dried nuts, but the tea comes alive when steeped. The flavours of honey, vanilla and roasted nuts, particularly pistachio come through. The tea can also be enjoyed for multiple steepings.
