Singell Estate 2nd Flush - Darjeeling (org)
Darjeeling teas come from the Darjeeling region nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas in north eastern India. The tea has been granted a geographical indication to protect the product from imitation. Darjeeling Tea gets its distinct flavour from a unique and complex combination of agro-climatic conditions: a muscatel aroma and flavour and color of a light golden liquor.
Flush refers to the plucking of a tea plant harvest. The second flush is second harvest in the summer time between May - June. These teas are grown in the warmth and sunlight of spring and summer, giving them vibrant and tasteful flavors. Second flush Darjeeling teas are processed like other traditional black teas, with a shorter wither, allowing a fuller oxidation and darkening of the leaves.
Singell was planted in 1860 in the very early days of the region’s development, and today most of the Singell garden is still covered in these classic seed-grown, deep-rooted plants and some from this very early planting Singell second flush is a full and structured tea with strong woody and floral flavours, carrying warm notes of sweet spices such as nutmeg.
