Yunnan Early Spring Green Tea (云系早春绿茶) is a prestigious and luxurious category of tea comprised of the very first harvest of the year, plucked in late January or February from the warm, low-altitude regions of southern Yunnan, near the Lancang River in the Fengqing county. This initial flush captures the tea plant’s concentrated nutrients after winter dormancy, resulting in an exceptionally tender yield of downy buds and young leaves. The entire processing method is meticulously designed to preserve this pristine freshness by quickly halting oxidation, locking in the leaf’s vibrant green color and delicate aroma.
The resulting tea is celebrated for its signature sensory profile: a sweet, umami-rich flavor with notes of chestnut and spring vegetables, and very low bitterness. Its liquor is a pale yellow-green, and its aroma is intensely fresh and floral. Highly prized by enthusiasts who await its release, this tea is a pure expression of Yunnan’s terroir beyond Pu’er, meant to be brewed gently and enjoyed immediately as a refreshing taste of the new season.
